Road Safety Week

Road Safety Week 24 with students

Road Safety Week is the largest annual campaign focused on road safety.

17th – 23rd November 2024

We are putting road victims at the forefront of the initiative. Our goal is to raise awareness about the devastating impact of road crashes and to celebrate the incredible individuals who support families affected by a road death or serious injury.

The purpose of Road Safety Week is to educate both cyclists and motorcyclists on how to stay safe on our roads, while also raising awareness among other road users regarding the vulnerability of these groups.

After the crash, every road victim matters.

Each year, more than 1,700 people lose their lives on UK roads, and another 30,000 suffer serious, life-changing injuries. These numbers are shocking, and there has been no significant reduction in casualties for over a decade.

However, road casualties are not just statistics. Each number represents a family in turmoil, grief-stricken and struggling to navigate the complex procedures that often follow a road crash. Each number reflects a family whose lives have been changed forever in an instant; a family in need of our support.

We are proud to support Road Safety Week, which is promoted by Brake, the charity dedicated to helping those seriously injured or bereaved by road crashes. This year, we have once again partnered with George Ide LLP to spread this important message, continuing a relationship that began in 2017.

Paul Lewis from George Ide LLP is pictured with our Co-Headteachers, Dr Taylor and Mrs Lewry with some CHS students who are supporting the lower speed zone.
