British Values

MASTER crest only rgbAt Chichester High School we want to ensure students partake on a well rounded journey, ensuring that they embrace a curriculum that is enriched with a range of topics, preparing them for adult life. Part of our role in that preparation is ensuring that we promote and reinforce British values to our students.

The government set out its definition of British values in the 2023 Prevent Strategy and considered them to be democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

At CHS these values are reinforced in a pervasive manner and permeate the school community.

These values are:

  • Democracy: We have a say in what happens in our school
  • Mutual respect: We understand how our behaviour affects others in our school
  • Rule of Law: The rules that keep our school safe and happy
  • Tolerance of those of different faiths: We enjoy learning about different cultures and embrace differences
  • Individual liberty: We understand our rights and the impact our choices have on others
