Remembrance 2024
Our Co-Headteachers, Mrs Lewry and Dr Taylor along with two students laying a wreath today.
Today Chichester High School joined together as a community to commemorate Armistice Day.
The day started with a poignant service held with the Year 7's, our wonderful CCF (Combined Cadet Force) was involved and laid a wreath too.
There were readers from several year groups who read poems and the story of May (Maisie) Grainger, a former student at Chichester High School for Girls who was killed in WW2 by an aircraft crash. We also honoured the former students of Chichester High School for Boys, by reading a selection of names of those who died in both WW1 & WW2.
At 11 am the whole school stood in their classrooms and participated in the two-minute silence whilst our Co-Headteachers, Mrs Lewry and Dr Taylor, along with two student representatives (Harrison Smith and Caitlin Tucker) laid a wreath in our memorial garden.
It is an honour every year to recognise the sacrifice of those who fought for us in conflicts around the world and especially to honour those from our community who fought so that we can live.
We will remember them.
